Belogorsk - one of the oldest settlements of the Amur region. The city is located on the left bank of the lower reaches of the river Tom (Zeya River basin) in 50 km from its mouth, 109 km from the regional center - Blagoveshchensk and the border with China. The territory of the city covers 118.5 square kilometers The resident population of the city as of January 1, 2009 amounted to 68147. The first settlement on the site of the town - a village Alexandrov, founded in 1860 by immigrants from the Perm region.
In 1931 the town was renamed Krasnopartizanskaya, in 1935 - in Kuybyshevkiy East, and in 1957 the city received the name of Belogorsk. Belogorsk - industrial and railway hub. From here a branch line to the Trans-Siberian Railway Blagoveshchensk and Baikal-Amur Mainline.
