Ussuriisk, a city in the Primorsky Region of Russia (112 km away from Vladivostok), was founded in 1866.
Ussuriisk originated on the site of the ancient Chinese city, Suiping, founded in the 12-13 century. As a result, there are many interesting monuments on its territory. One of the symbols of Ussuriisk is a huge stone turtle found during excavations of ancient Chinese burials. Today it can be seen in the city park.
One of the largest enterprises of the city is a locomotive factory, which serves the Russian railway.
In 70 kilometers away from the city there is a park "Land of the Leopard", in which rare species of animals live. There are about 30 leopards and 10 Amur tigers - both are included in the endangered species list.
